DeWalt is mediocre at best. Milwaukee is top of the line. Does he need a pro set? If so, Milwaukee will last him for a long, long time. But you will pay for the quality. If he’s a very handy DIY’er, go with Makita. It’s a little cheaper than Milwaukee, but better than DeWalt. Porter-Cable is comparable to Makita. Hope this helps.
I work construction all over the country and have never seen a carpenter with any but a Dewalt (except 1 who’s brother was a VP so he got his tools free). If you brought in a Makita you would be laughed off the job. Porter cable makes some good wood working tools. Milwaukee is sometimes used by plumbers or electricians along with Ridgid.
Makita is light in weight. and Milkawee heavy and the strongest it well take any punishment.
Dewalt would be the best bet, and then milwaukee,or porter Cable. Hope he has a good birthday. Good luck and God bless you and yours.
I’m not going to restate what the guys above me said but I will mention that Rigid has lifetime replacement on there batteries, that can save you ALOT of money in the long run…
i would go with either dewalt or milwakee i think both of them really good tools
