There should be a tracking knob to adjust try turning it while the sander is running to adjust the tracking the right way
What Brian L said. The knob changes the angle of the front roller. If the rollers aren’t parallel, the belt will “drift” to the left or right while running. I have a Makita belt sander.
If no tracking knob, there could be a lever on one side that you move back and forth with the length of the sander. A tensioner is what it is called and it loosens and tightens the belt on the rollers. You have to do that when you change belts anyway. Move it back or forward depending on the type of sander you have.
